Our vision, mission and values

One of the members of Blind Veterans UK
No one who has served our country should have to battle blindness alone.

In 1915, when we started out as St Dunstan's, it was to help veterans blinded during the First World War. Now we work with young veterans who have lost their sight in conflicts, as well as older people whose blindness is caused by age or disease.

We help our members get the best from life after losing their sight.

Our vision - our ultimate goal

We believe that no one who has served our country should have to battle blindness alone.

Our mission - how we'll make our vision happen

All blind veterans should have access to the finest quality of services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.
Our new name and identity will help us make this a reality.

Our values

We're committed

Our members are with us for life. We commit ourselves to helping them prosper and we want to inspire commitment in our supporters too.

We're courageous

It takes courage to live life as a blind veterans. We want to reflect our members' approach to life in our own attitudes and our brave decisions.

We're collaborative

At Blind Veterans UK we get the best results when we form active partnerships to achieve our vision. We collaborate with our members and between departments. We also build partnerships with people and organisations who can give us their support.

We're resourceful

Our time, facilities and funding are all limited, so we always look for ways to use them well. We have the biggest impact when we use our resources intelligently and effectively. We keep in mind that our money is only loaned to us by donors to help us support blind veterans.
