Blind Veterans UK is a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and recipient of the Gold Award in the Employer Recognition Scheme.

It is our pledge to acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families are treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.

By signing the Covenant we endeavour to uphold its key principles and to demonstrate our commitment to the armed forces, including a Reserves-friendly Human Resources policy and to advocate for the military community in the UK.

How you can get involved

More than 10,000 organisations have signed the Armed Forces Covenant so far. The scheme recognises employers who support armed forces reservists, cadet force adult volunteers, ex-serving personnel, the military and their families. The Covenant involves a public pledge from businesses and other organisations who wish to demonstrate their support for the Armed Forces community.

Organisations can benefit significantly from membership to the corporate covenant scheme, which offers an opportunity to build a reputation as a Forces-friendly business at a time when public support for the Armed Forces is at an all-time high. The Armed Forces community can contribute real value to an organisation, both as employees (who bring a wealth of skills and experience) and as customers.

Businesses can offer equal ex-Forces employment opportunities when recruiting, to benefit from the extensive skills of those who have served in the military, or support employees through development of an Armed Forces Network. A company may wish to promote themselves as Armed Forces-friendly through awareness raising activities on Armed Forces Day each year. Organisations can also offer mentoring opportunities and support ex-serving personnel to transition into civilian life, bringing a diversity of experience to their workforce.
