"I thought I had nowhere to go, nothing to do and nothing to live for. But now I’m happy and fulfilled."
Jules
Blind veteran

Blind veteran Clive lost his sight completely in an unprovoked attack.

Former Welsh Guardsman had joined the Army at 16. It was his dream job. When he lost his sight and his career, his world came crashing down. He was just 26 but he thought life wasn't worth living.

Happily, Clive has discovered life after sight loss, thanks to the training and equipment he has received. He uses assistive technology so he can keep working and take care of his little granddaughter. In fact, he has an Amazon Echo in every room in his house because they are so useful to him.

But it's been archery that has been the surprise success story in Clive's life - even though when the charity suggested he try it, he laughed.

"A blind person with a bow and arrow seemed quite funny to me".

But he gave it a go and Clive is now so good, he competes for his country!

Representing Great Britain at the European Para-Archery Championships showed Clive how far he's come. He's since won medals at the World Para Championships, the National Championships and the World Blind Games. Archery has also helped him overcome his PTSD and bond with his family as he trains.
