We’re looking for an inspirational individual to lead a multi-functional team within our Operations Department, delivering a high-quality customer service experience for our veterans.

As part of the operations department, the post holder will share responsibility for creating a highly positive and solution focused working culture, reflecting the organisational values, culture, and vision and for leading change and setting the future direction of the Centre.

This role requires excellent leadership, which engages, inspires and motivates a Community Engagement Team, delivering first class customer service to our Blind Veterans. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Directly manage a multifunctional team to enhance the member customer offer through a significant volunteering offer, maximising and enhancing the relationships with the local community and the provision of high-quality events and entertainment.
  • Responsible for the utilisation of volunteers in line with the Volunteer Strategy in all departments to enhance the member/customer experience.
  • To provide a comprehensive and effective technology support service to all aspects of the Centre, including the development of assistive technology to enhance the service being received by our members ensuring our place as a Centre of Excellence for VI and Accessibility.
  • Be responsible for the production and content of all Centre promotion and communication, working collaboratively with the organisation communications team. 

As the ideal candidate, you will be a positive influencer, able to demonstrate confidence, motivation, and commitment. We expect high levels of integrity and behaviours consistent with our values and culture statement. 

You will have experience of community engagement and volunteering and hold a nationally recognised diploma or degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field. You will have knowledge of the legislation and regulation that govern the areas as outlined key responsible above. In addition, you will have excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

Finally, you will hold or demonstrate a commitment to work towards a level 5 Leadership and Management qualification.

*Please note that this role is currently based in our Brighton Centre but will be based in our exciting new centre in Rustington (currently planned to be opened later this year). Applicants will need to be able to commute to Rustington once the move has taken place.
