The role of Community Support Worker includes carrying out assessments with members and supporting them to achieve their goals; providing advice, information, signposting and basic rehabilitation, working as part of the wider Blind Veterans UK team, and our partners, to help our members maximise their independence; and finding creative ways to engage and support members on their journey to life beyond sight loss.    

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic, flexible and solution focused individual who can follow a rigorous case management process and adhere to safeguarding and risk management procedures. Candidates should have a positive attitude and be able to demonstrate a collaborative, resourceful and confidential approach to the role. It is an autonomous role, but you will be part of a wider integrated team. 

The ideal applicant will have excellent organisational and communication skills, experience of using case management systems to record interventions and have a good understanding of how to maintain professional relationships with our members.

Effective IT skills are essential including a good working knowledge of the MS Office suite and experience of using databases. 

The post will be home based with regular travel across the chosen community in line with any local Covid regulations.
