Housekeeping Assistant (30 hours/week) - Sunday to Thursday**

We’re looking for a friendly and pro-active Housekeeping Assistant to carry out general cleaning duties

£14,640 per annum plus unsocial hours allowance: currently additional 22% for hours worked on a Saturday or Sunday.

Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-Service men and women of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. Since 1915, we’ve provided rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support to tens of thousands of blind veterans. 

We’re looking for a friendly and pro-active Housekeeping Assistant to carry out general cleaning duties including vacuuming, dusting, polishing, making beds and deep cleaning in bedrooms (including nursing areas) and public areas such as hallways and toilets, as well as assisting with laundry duties when required.

You’ll have the ability to work unsupervised and will ideally have previous housekeeping, cleaning and/or laundry experience.  Previous experience of working with visually impaired, elderly or disabled people will also be an advantage. 

You’ll have a flexible, conscientious approach and the ability to carry out a variety of housekeeping tasks and manual handling activities.  You’ll also ideally have some knowledge of Health and Safety processes, including COSHH and Infection Control.

We operate 365 days per year so the work pattern for this role includes working on bank holidays, when they fall on your usual working days.

This role is based within a CQC registered care home. It is a legal requirement that all employees will need to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated in order to protect our residents.
