£1000 raised by Prom the Prom walking challenge in baking heat

31 July 2013 16:00

A team of 16 from Blind Veterans UK’s Llandudno Centre braved the searing summer sun on Saturday 20th July to Prom the Prom in aid of the charity.

Starting at Barkby Beach Prestatyn, the team walked 29 miles in temperatures of up to 31 degrees to the finish line at the Llandudno Cenotaph. This was no ordinary walk - sections were undertaken under blindfold to raise awareness of the work the charity does in supporting ex-service men and women who have lost their sight.

It has been estimated that over £1,000 has been raised by this event via sponsorship, match funding from HSBC, donations via Just Giving and during the walk itself.

If you would like to make a donation to show your support please visit or call 01492 864574 to make your donation via the telephone.

The next sporting event fundraiser will be a 1 mile and 3 mile Cross Country Challenge at Bodelwyddan Castle, 15th September. There will also be a shorter Family Fun Challenge for younger entrants.
