Ex-soldier, Olympic Torch bearer and Blind Veterans UK beneficiary, Lance Corporal Craig Lundberg, was just one of the participants to battle it out for a trophy at our second annual Blind Veterans UK yachting race, which took place at the Conwy River Festival in Wales on 19 August 2012.
The day-long Blind Veterans UK race for modern cruise yachts marked the first of four days of handicap racing to take place as part of the 20 year old river festival. Blind Veterans UK is a sponsor of the festival and one of its rehabilitation and training centres is situated in nearby Llandudno.
Craig, pictured onboard the 'Minim' yacht below, has frequently shown his support for Blind Veterans UK, formerly St Dunstan's, the national charity for blind ex-Service men and women.
Craig lost his sight in a fierce rooftop fire fight whilst serving as a Lance Corporal in Iraq in 2007, and has received extensive treatment from Blind Veterans UK ever since. This has ranged from a course of initial rehabilitation at the charity's Brighton centre and, more recently, parenting skills training at the charity's Llandudno centre in preparation of the birth of his first child earlier this year.
