Our Sheffield centre played host to a special event to mark the first birthday of the Blind Veterans UK brand. Star of the show was 'Wheelbarrow' - the bomb disposal robot.

Hosted by our Sheffield Centre on Thursday 21 February, the event included a specially-made two-foot wide Blind Veterans UK cake successfully being cut by a bomb disposal robot. The cake was then enjoyed by assembled guests, who included Blind Veterans UK members and staff, plus officers from the 521 Explosives Ordnance Disposal Squadron.

Launching the event, Director of Welfare Services Barry Porter told guests how the Blind Veterans UK brand has been a massive boost for our charity. In addition to highlighting increases in member recruitment, fundraising and public interest, Barry also spoke of the No One Alone campaign and our desire to reach out to and support more new members.
