Brighton local, Alistair Feest is running a half marathon for Blind Veterans UK!
Alistair Feest from Brighton is urging people to join him on his 34th birthday in running the Brighton Half Marathon for Blind Veterans UK!
Alistair, from Rottingdean, Brighton, has decided to run the half marathon on Sunday 17th February for the us because of the first class rehabilitation, training and support we provide to blind veterans, regardless of when they served or how they lost their sight.
Alistair, who first started fundraising for the Blind Veterans UK through the local business he works for, Barefoot Wine, said: "The charity's rehabilitation and training centre in Ovingdean is very close to where I live, and I have had a great time fundraising for them in the past. All the people I have met through the charity have been superb, and I have been able to see first hand the wonderful facilities and training they provide for veterans whose lives have been turned upside down by the loss of their sight".
Tracy Stratford, Senior Events Officer at Blind Veterans UK, said: "Brighton is home to our oldest centre where we provide residential care, training and holidays for vision impaired ex-Servicemen and women, which is why the Brighton Half Marathon is especially important to our charity.
"There are still spaces to run in this challenge and we will be on hand to give you training plans and cheer you along on the day. Every step you run will make a big difference to the blind veterans we support."
The Brighton Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 17 February 2013. There are still places to run in this marathon for Blind Veterans UK. To find out more or to apply visit our website. The deadline to apply by is Friday 25th January 2013.
