Congratulations to the Military Wives

We would like to offer huge congratulations to the fabulous Military Wives on winning single of the year at this year’s Classic Brit awards.

The single 'Wherever You Are' beat Nessun Dorma and other classics to win the prize, and previously gained huge praise as a Christmas chart topper.

Voted for by the public, the award was said to be "the candle on the icing of a very large cake" by choir master Gareth Malone. The Wives celebrated in style by performing the Diamond Jubilee classic 'Sing', during which Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber accompanied the choir with grand pianos.

We are particularly proud of the Military Wives and have been delighted to have received their support and delicious recipes during our Tarts for Troops fundraiser earlier this year. Their Tarts for Troops party helped raise funds which are already making a real difference to the lives of our members.

"With partners and husbands serving in Afghanistan, we are very aware of the dangers that those in the Armed Forces regularly face. It is reassuring to know that if they should tragically lose their sight, Blind Veterans UK is there for them, for rest of their lives", Mechelle Cooney of the Military Wives Choir.

We hope to listen to more award winning songs from the Military Wives in the future, and are eager to see more of their delicious bakes in next year's Tarts for Troops.
