Doors of London’s top golf course to open in aid of Blind Veterans UK

Five fire fighters who are set to tackle the 100k challenge will be hosting a charity golf day at the prestigious Royal Wimbledon Golf Club in support of Blind Veterans UK.
One of the oldest and most prestigious Golf clubs in the UK will open its course for a special fundraiser in support of Blind Veterans UK.
Five fire fighters from the White Watch at Wimbledon Fire Station have organised a charity golf day which will enable people to gain exclusive access to the course, facilities and Carvery at the Royal Wimbledon Golf Club on Monday 12 May 2014. The day has been organised to help the fire fighters reach their £1250 fundraising target set for taking part in Blind Veterans UK's 100k London to Brighton walk in June.
Golfers will be given the chance to enjoy the 18-hole course, experience the club's fine dining with a complimentary breakfast and lunch, as well as take part in a raffle with top prizes and competition for the top three golfers, the golfer nearest the pin and the golfer with the longest drive.
All-inclusive tickets will be on sale for £100 per person. All money raised will go towards supporting Blind Veterans UK's practical and emotional lifetime support services for blind veterans, regardless of when or where they served or how they lost their sight.
Event organisers Graham Dicks and Nairn McIntosh said: "We are thrilled that the Royal Wimbledon Golf Club has offered to host this event and give people the chance to make the most of its outstanding course and facilities at a very reasonable price.
They add, "As keen golfers, the others members of the White Watch and I are all aware of the exclusivity of this golf course and quality of its features, including its impressive history, proximity to central London, outstanding views and putting green, which is second to none.
"We hope that as many people as possible sign up to take part in the golf day and in doing so help raise money in aid of a very worthy cause. We have a lot of respect and appreciation of the Armed Forces and therefore believe it is important to support the charities which support them". Places for our 100k Walk, set to kick off in Putney on Saturday 21st June and conclude on Sunday 22nd June, are currently available, with a registration fee of £99 per participant or £120 for a two- or four-man relay team.
