Blind Veterans UK is offering a unique chance to test your bravery in a 120-foot-high Zip Wire Challenge from the top of our rehabilitation and training centre in Ovingdean, Brighton.

The challenge, taking place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May, will be hosted by the Royal Marines.

Rachel Chitty, Regional Fundraiser for Blind Veterans UK says: “We’re really excited to welcome the Royal Marines back for the Zip Wire Challenge, which is always an amazing experience for participants and with the Royal Marines hosting we know you’ll be in safe hands.”

Rob De Rosa from nearby Saltdean is a volunteer for the charity who has decided to put aside his fear of heights to help raise funds for the charity.

“I’m feeling a little bit nervous because I'm not great with heights but I thought this would push me out of my comfort zone a little bit." Rob, Community Volunteer

Rob recently joined Blind Veterans UK as part of our team of community volunteers who make regular visits to our blind veterans in their homes. Rob says "As part of my work as a volunteer, I visit Irene, a local blind veteran for a couple of hours a week. She’s an impressive, really resilient lady."

Registration for the Zip Wire Challenge is now open - you can sign up online or by calling 01273 391455.

You can also donate to Rob's JustGiving Page.

"Any veteran should have the support of the community but for those that rely on Blind Veterans UK it’s even more of a worthy cause.”
