Forces veteran Stuart Clarke completes 24km trek in Brecon Beacons for Blind Veterans UK.
Ex-Service man and member of the Queensman Lodge 2694, Stuart Clarke, has recently tackled the Fan Dance race in support of Blind Veterans UK. Since leaving the Armed Forces, Stuart has actively supported charities and decided to raise funds for Blind Veterans UK as we support blind ex-Service men and women.
Stuart chose to tackle the Fan Dance Race, a gruelling and strenuous 24km non-navigational race over two sides of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons. The infamous route has long been a part of SAS (Special Air Service) and SBS (Special Boat Service) Selection and is considered the yardstick of a candidate's potential to perform well on Test Week and ultimately pass the Special Forces Selection programme.
The weather was quite a challenge for Stuart due to the time of year and it wasn't easy but did manage to successfully complete the distance and managed to double his predicted sponsorship to a total of £606.
Thank you to Stuart for all his fundraising efforts. If you would like to tackle a challenge for Blind Veterans UK view our events for 2014.
