Senior students from Ysgol John Bright presented Llandudno charity, Blind Veterans UK, with a cheque for £240 raised from at a school disco. As well as aiming to support the local charity for blind veterans, the disco was aimed at making the transition for youngsters from primary school to secondary school a less daunting experience.
Organised by the Student Leadership Team at Ysgol John Bright, pupils from several primary schools in the area attended the event.
Sammy Owen, Ysgol John Bright Sixth Former said: "The event was a huge success not only in terms of introducing September's intake to our school, but also in raising funds for Blind Veterans UK.
"We chose Blind Veterans UK as our charity as they carry out vital work supporting blind ex-Service men and woman locally at their centre in Craig Y Don, and many people in our community do not know about the support they offer.
"It was an enjoyable event and something our Student Leadership Team hopes to repeat in the future. We hope the funds we raised will go to good use at the Blind Veterans UK's Llandudno Centre."
Victoria Beech, Regional Fundraiser for Blind Veterans UK said: "We are really pleased that the Student Leadership Team has selected us as their charity. We are currently developing our relationship with them to establish ways in which we can work together in order to raise funds for the charity while providing valuable experiences for the students. All funds raised within the North Wales area will be restricted for use within our Llandudno Centre."
