Ride for Life Beyond Sight Loss 2019

The Ride For Life Beyond Sight Loss is an annual motorcycle event riding from the Fire Training College, Moreton-in-Marsh to our centre in Ovingdean, Brighton in support of Blind Veterans UK.

Rider registration fee: £20 (includes a commemorative ride badge)

Pillion passenger registration fee: £20

The Ride For Life Beyond Sight Loss is an annual motorcycle event riding from the Fire Training College, Moreton-in-Marsh to our centre in Ovingdean, Brighton in support of Blind Veterans UK.

Join us at the Fire Training College on Friday 9 August for a 3 course informal early evening dinner with bed and breakfast with en-suite facilities. (see accommodation tab)

The ride will start at 09:00 on Saturday 10 August taking mainly A roads with the first stop at the Army Flying Museum for a comfort break.

On to a beautiful ride to Southwick Park, Portsmouth for a lunch stop and the opportunity to visit the D Day landing room.

There will be stop in Shoreham so that the group can ride together along Brighton seafront to our centre in Ovingdean where you will be welcomed in with a well-earned bite to eat.

Want to bring a pillion passenger along for the ride? No problem, the more the merrier we say!

Accommodation at The Fire Training College, Moreton in Marsh has been secured for Friday 9 August ensuring that you are fresh for your ride. Friday evening between 17:00 and 18:00 you will have an informal three course dinner with two main course and a vegetarian option.  We will then have use of the club bar. All accommodation includes a Full English breakfast and free parking.

  • Single - £60

There is also an opportunity for you to camp on the grounds of our centre in Ovingdean on Saturday 10 August with breakfast included £10 per person.

Riders need to have a full motorcycle licence

Medical Conditions

All participants should be medically fit to participate

Use of images

By entering the event you give permission for the free use of your name, voice or picture in any broadcast, telecast, advertising, promotion or other accounts of this event.

Event cancellation

The event will only be cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances.  In such an eventuality all participants will be notified by email as soon as possible.  The organiser’s entire liability in respect of all costs and expenses you may incur as a result of such cancelation or delay will solely be the entry price you have paid to take part in the event.

Data protection

Blind Veterans UK Ride for Life beyond Sight Loss complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 and you have the right of access to personal records held on Blind Veterans UK’s computer on written request.  Your name will be added to Blind Veterans UK’s mailing list so that we can keep you informed about the other events and activities of Blind Veterans UK unless you tell us otherwise.

Change of address/contact details

If your name or address details change after your initial registration it is essential that you notify us by email immediately.

The Route

There will be a route to follow.  Riders will be allocated a ride group where there will be a designated Group Leader.  At no point during the ride should you leave your group without reporting to the Group Leader. 

Clothing and Equipment

By law you must wear a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle on the road.

To protect yourself from injury and stay comfortable we would recommend the following should be worn: -

  • Visor or goggles
  • A jacket
  • Trousers
  • Gloves
  • Boots
  • Visibility aids

Ride ejection

Blind Veterans UK reserve the right to refuse an entrant attendance at or participation in the Blind Veterans UK Ride for Life beyond Sight Loss.  We strive to organise safe and enjoyable events and hope that you will help us in achieving this.  Any participant who is found in breach of these terms and conditions will be excluded from future Blind Veterans UK events.  Please do not put someone else at risk.

Disclaimer

I confirm that I have read, understood and accept all the conditions of entry.  I confirm that I am taking part in the event entirely at my own risk.  Blind Veterans UK will not be responsible for any break down of your vehicle and participants should have suitable breakdown cover.  I acknowledge that Blind Veterans UK shall not be liable for death, personal injury, loss or damage arising from my participation in or as a consequence of my participation in the Ride for Life beyond Sight Loss, however caused, expect with regard to death or personal injury which is caused by Blind Veterans UK’s negligence.
