Meet Volunteer Ron

He has fond memories from his time in the Navy but had “missed the banter”. That was until he started volunteering with us.

Ron is a retired academic from Kingston University, but had previously spent 12 years in the Royal Navy, leaving in 1969. He had fond memories from his time in the Navy and missed his time in the Forces. Since starting his volunteering with us, Ron has discovered that special camaraderie all over again. He says:

"It was always my intention to be a volunteer at Blind Veterans UK, but I never really got around to it until my wife began volunteering with the charity in the Arts&Crafts Workshop."

Ron now volunteers every week. He says: “I find the blind veterans who go to the gym particularly inspirational. Given the disadvantages they’ve faced, they’re so dedicated to their fitness.”
