Archery & Stamp Collecting Companion: Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford, Essex
- A few hours weekly
- Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford, Essex
Our RAF veteran has two very different hobbies: stamp collecting and archery! He attends archery club every Monday evening and would benefit hugely from a volunteer who could accompany him to the club. He would also love someone with a good sense of humour to help him build and sort his stamp collection, a task that has become more challenging with sight loss.
By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to their day to day lives.
Volunteers need to be over the age of 18 years, have access to a vehicle and comfortable pushing a wheelchair given training. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
