English Language Helper: Feltham, Middlesex
- A few hours weekly
- Feltham, Middlesex
We are looking for a volunteer to help our Nepalese veteran improve his English-speaking skills. Born in Nepal in the late-50s, he joined the Queen's Gurkha Engineers in 1980 and served all over the world, including South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, Brunei, Malaysia, Germany and Hong Kong. Now living in Feltham, both him and his wife struggle with the English language. He would benefit hugely from a patient volunteer with ESL teaching experience who could help him pick up the basics!
Volunteers need to be over the age of 18 years and able to travel independently to and from our veterans home. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
