We are looking for a warm and patient volunteer to visit our World War II Royal Navy veteran in Evesham. Now in his 90s, he is very independent and loves to garden. He does struggle to hear, but if you are patient and fancy a trip to the garden centre or helping him out in his garden, we'd love to hear from you!
By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans, and by this gentleman in particular since he lost his wife last year. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to his day to day life.
Volunteers need to be over the age of 18 years and able to travel independently to and from our veterans home. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
