Home Visitor: Hayes, Middlesex

Time Commitment
A few hours a week
Hayes, Middlesex

Looking for an energetic and patient volunteer to help our Hayes based veteran organise his kitchen. Our veteran had a very interesting time serving with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and was stationed in Cyprus, Belize, Jamaica and Gibraltar. Before losing his sight, he enjoyed DIY, model making and driving, but now spends his time playing indoor bowls and walking his guide dog, Malty. Our veteran is keen to be independent and prepare his own meals, but due to his visual impairment, he needs some help clearing his kitchen first!

By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to their day to day lives.

Volunteers need to be over the age of 18 years and able to travel independently to and from our veterans home. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
