Our RAF veteran is looking for a volunteer to help him attend a local IT course that he has trouble reaching. He has a great love of model railways, so would also love the volunteer to visit another veteran who is a fellow train enthusiast with a large collection! He has a great sense of humour and loves to meet new people, and would really appreciate someone to help him get out of the house more.
By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to their day to day lives.
Volunteers need to be a driver with access to a vehicle. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
