Home Visitor: Hull
Blind Veterans UK would love to find a volunteer who has great listening skills in order to provide a listening ear to a 92 year old veteran.
- A few hours a week on a Thursday or Friday
Our veteran was in the RAF for 24 years and was a PT and Parachute Instructor for a good deal of this time. He is a really interesting gentleman with lots of tales to tell and will keep you entertained on your visits. We would like you to visit weekly, ideally on a Thursday or Friday for up to 2 hours. Not only would you provide company for our veteran you will also give his wife the opportunity to go out of the house without having to worry.
If you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to visit our veteran in his home for a chat, we would love to hear from you.
For this role we would like our volunteer to be friendly and patient. We would also like them to be accepting and non-judgemental.
We will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check and for the volunteer to be over 18 years old
If you would like to apply for this worthwhile volunteering opportunity you will be asked to complete an application form and attend an informal interview.
We will support you with training and an induction, out of pocket expenses and ongoing support so that you can get as much out of your volunteering with us.
