Home Visitor: Lancaster
- A few hours weekly
We are looking for a friendly volunteer to cheer up our elderly Army veteran in Lancaster. Having joined the Army in 1947 for National Service, he served as a Chef. After being discharged, he worked on the railways and then as a postman. Before losing his sight, he enjoyed playing darts and gardening. Now in his late-80s and widowed, he has lived alone for 25 years and gets very lonely. He would benefit hugely from a kind volunteer who could pop by in the afternoon or evening once a week to say hello.
By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to their day to day lives.
