Home Visitor: Newcastle
94 year old veteran with a love of knitting would like a volunteer to visit weekly for a cup of tea and a natter with the possibility of attending community events too.
- A few hours a week
Our veteran was called up to the ATS in 1943. She was trained as an Operator – Wireless and Line (OWL) and served until 1946. She finds life a little isolating and would really appreciate a volunteer who could visit her at home but also accompany her to community events. Wouldn’t it be great if you were able to find a Knit and Natter group locally to attend!
For this role we would like our volunteer to be friendly and patient. We would also like them to be accepting and non-judgemental.
We will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check and for the volunteer to be over 18 years old. It would also be great if you are a driver with access to a car for volunteering purposes but please don’t be put off if you don’t!
If you would like to apply for this worthwhile volunteering opportunity you will be asked to complete an application form and attend an informal interview.
We will support you with training and an induction, out of pocket expenses and ongoing support so that you can get as much out of your volunteering with us.
