Home Visitor: Northallerton, North Yorkshire
96 year old Dunkirk Veteran would like someone to talk to for a couple of hours each week.
- A couple of hours a week
- Northallerton, North Yorkshire
Our veteran volunteered for the Royal Artillery in 1939. During his service he was at Dunkirk, with the 8th Army in North Africa and in Italy. He was demobbed in 1946 and went on to become a civil servant. As you can imagine he has many stories to tell about his life and would love a volunteer who would be interested to hear them. Our veteran has hearing difficulties as well as vision loss which means he can feel very isolated. By visiting once a week for a couple of hours you will make such a difference to his life.
As our veteran has dual sensory loss we will need our volunteer to have a clear speaking voice.
For this role we would like our volunteer to be friendly and patient. We would also like them to be accepting and non-judgemental.
We will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check and for the volunteer to be over 18 years old. If you would like to apply for this worthwhile volunteering opportunity you will be asked to complete an application form and attend an informal interview.
We will support you with training and an induction, out of pocket expenses and ongoing support so that you can get as much out of your volunteering with us.
