Home Visitor/Outing Companion: Horstead, Norwich

Time Commitment
1-2 Hours Weekly
Location
Horstead, Norwich

Our veteran joined the Royal Signals Corp in 1942 and was quickly promoted to Lance Corporal. Now in her late 90’s, she lives alone and uses a 4 wheeled walker to go out nearby. She loved reading which she can no longer do and instead listens to audio books. She is keen to have a friendly volunteer who can visit at home and take her out.

By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to their day to day lives.

Volunteers need to be over the age of 18 years and able to travel independently to and from our veterans home. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
