Home visitor/outings buddy: Bognor Regis, W Sussex
- A few hours weekly
- Bognor Regis, W Sussex
We are looking for a friendly volunteer to visit our female veteran in her home and help her get out and about to the local shops. She was previously visited by 2 volunteers who she loved to see, but unfortunately they moved away. Now in her mid-90s and with sight loss, she finds it difficult to get out, and can feel lonely, so would benefit hugely from your company. She is very engaging and loves the company of others, so you are in for a good time!
By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to their day to day lives.
Volunteers need to be over the age of 18 years and able to travel independently to and from our veterans home. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
