Put your pedals to the test
Saddle up on Clapham Common and make your way through the idyllic English countryside, before stopping off at the picturesque village of Turners Hill and heading for the finish line at Brighton seafront!
No need to be looking at your map – the route will be fully sign-posted so that you can keep your eyes on the road and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
This is the perfect challenge for solo riders looking to get in some extra miles, beginner cyclists taking on their first big challenge or corporate groups looking for a team cycle.
Lunch and water stops are provided on the route and riders can take advantage of stationary and roaming mechanical support if assistance is needed.
Our event riders will receive a Blind Veterans UK cycling top to help raise awareness, as well as vital funds to support our life-changing work.
Transport from the finish line back to Clapham Common is available free of charge on a first come, first served basis.
Meet Richard
Richard will be taking on the challenge in memory of his wife Maria, who was one of our blind veterans.
Richard and Maria completed the challenge in 2021, with Maria keen to fundraise for our charity as a thank you for the life-changing support we provided to her.
Sadly, Maria passed away less than a year later, leaving Richard keen to carry her fundraising mantle.
He says, “Maria felt strongly that the charity saved her life after she lost her job as a nurse due to sight loss. Blind Veterans UK taught her how to use specialised software and touch-type, enabling her to return to work as an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer. Not only did this help Maria – it enabled her to help hundreds of patients going through sight loss. I’m riding for Maria as I know she would want other blind veterans to be able to rebuild their lives the way she did.”
