Ambassador Standard Bearing Training
From Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th June, 8 Ambassadors came together to learn the correct techniques for carrying, marching and performing static drill movements required for ceremonial and memorial duties with Blind Veterans UK Standards.
Ambassadors in attendance were Simon Hannah, Chris Lee, Simmy Martin, Lee Whitfield, Wayne Perry, Rob Loseby, Nigel Smith and Dave Cole.
Training was led and delivered by Ambassador Wayne Perry, who did a fantastic job throughout the course. Striking the perfect balance between professional instruction and military humour, Wayne created an enjoyable, supportive and engaging environment. Despite managing his own sight loss, Wayne delivered the training with confidence, earning the respect and appreciation of all those in attendance.
A particularly memorable moment took place on Thursday 9th June, when all eight Standard Bearers attended St Michael’s Church, Madeley, Telford, for a Service of Blessing. During the service, held between 2pm and 3pm, each Standard was formally blessed and dedicated into service by Vicar Andy. The occasion marked a significant milestone as it was the first time in the charity’s history that a blessing ceremony of this scale had been conducted for its Standards, making it a truly historic and proud moment for all involved.
