Retirement village raises over £3,500
A retirement village in Gloucestershire has presented us with a cheque for £3,523 which they raised by holding a Remembrance Day event.
St Oswald's Retirement Village in Gloucester hold their event each year and select a different military charity to support.
Guests were treated to a two-course meal and musical performances including a group of veterans who played The Last Post.
Lifestyle Manager for the Extra Care Charitable Trust, which runs St Oswald's Retirement Village, Sam, said:
"This year we chose to support Blind Veterans UK as we were struck by the amazing, life-changing work the charity does to support those who have experienced sight-loss."
On 15 December, Colin, who leads our staff in the Gloucestershire community, was invited to attend a cheque presentation. He said:
"We are extremely grateful to the staff and residents at St Oswald's for the support they have shown to our charity.
"It's fantastic that people are fundraising for us while also bringing the community together at Remembrance which is such a special time of year for our blind veterans."
It is not too early to start planning an event to mark Remembrance Day in your community in 2024
