When Stu lost his sight and his independence, he also nearly lost his life. But one phone call changed everything.

This Christmas, we want to show you the life-changing impact your generosity can have. Your support can help a veteran who feels they have reached the end of the road to find hope, purpose and a future worth looking forward to.

For Stu, Christmas once meant nothing.

After a series of serious accidents, oxygen deprivation caused irreversible damage to his visual cortex, leaving him unable to process what his eyes could see. He spent three years recovering in hospital, adjusting to a future he never imagined.

Having lost both his sight and his independence, Stu struggled to see a way forward. He felt hopeless and believed his only option was to take his own life.

Then his phone rang.

The call was an invitation to attend a Welcome Week at our centre.

He accepted and through rehabilitation and training, Stu learnt new ways to manage.

We showed him how he could improve his life, from reading with assistive technology to preparing meals safely using adapted kitchen equipment. Just as importantly, he discovered he wasn't facing sight loss alone.

Today, Stu is embracing life in ways he never thought possible. Thanks to supporters like you, he has found friendship, purpose, and a community of fellow blind veterans. Together, they've taken on extreme fundraising challenges and inspired each other to keep moving forward.

Last Christmas, Stu enjoyed cooking dinner with his new partner. This year, it's even better: they're planning their wedding.

Your support can help make more life-changing phone calls happen.

Just as it did for Stu, a simple phone call from Blind Veterans UK can change a life. It can lead to expert rehabilitation, specialist equipment and the support needed to face the future with confidence.

This Christmas, let's keep those phones ringing.

Stu has hope for the future again and is continuing to rebuild his life.

The rehabilitation, practical support and specialist equipment Stu has received have helped transform his life.

Today, he's focused on discovering what else he can achieve, embracing new opportunities and taking on every challenge that comes his way.

He's even giving back by raising funds to help other blind veterans receive the same life-changing support.
