Meet D-Day veteran John

"I hope that others will join me in pledging a gift for future veterans too.”

As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, blind veteran John, 103, shares his story and relives the horrors and grief war leaves behind.

He does so in the hope that it will inspire others to support future veterans, as he has done, with a gift in his Will to Blind Veterans UK

“Everything the charity does to help veterans makes a huge difference to our quality of life. That’s why I’m also pledging a gift in my Will to them, so that future veterans can receive the same outstanding help I have.”

“I personally decided to leave a gift in my Will to Blind Veterans UK. I've been very fortunate – they've been very much involved in me rebuilding my life after the adversity I went through. So, for me, it's a very personal thing. I want to give a little bit back and say thank you for the sort of life I've had, which they'd been a major part in creating.”
