What's our NCWP?
Our NCWP is for all our Members, whether you loved arts and crafts prior to your sight loss and need a helping hand to continue, or you're simply looking for something to occupy your time.
It's available to all Members and is especially popular with those unable to visit one of our centres or who simply enjoy engaging in a creative project in a comfortable environment.
You may have taken part in arts and crafts activities prior to your sight loss and feel unsure how to continue them, or you may just be looking for something to occupy your time.
We'll send you everything you need to complete your creative activity, plus easy to follow, step-by-step large print instructions, as well as audio instructions on a USB stick or on email by request.
Yes! The instructions are written with a VI user in mind, with tactile prompts and image descriptions, offering a more bespoke project than something you'd find in a craft store.
Mosaic: Flower moon
We’ve chosen a cheerful “man in the moon” base for this mosaic, and as the May full moon is named the Flower moon, this is the inspiration for the design. You’ll receive a 20cm base, colour labelled and separated tiles, a step-by-step design guide and everything else you’ll need for your mosaic.
Collaborative craft: Christmas collage
Following the success of the Hot Air Balloon tea towels, this is an opportunity for Members to create artwork for Christmas merchandise for the charity. It may seem a strange time of year for this, but there’s quite a few stages to getting ready for the festive period! You will receive a bauble template and a variety of paper and card collage materials to make your own design, with some pre-cut shapes to use if you wish. Submission deadline is 1 August 2024 and everyone who takes part will receive a tea towel as a memento.
Drawing: Seaside sketchbook
This sketching kit is suitable for any drawing ability – even beginners. You will receive a variety of specially chosen art materials for visually impaired artists, two sketchbooks and some seaside themed tactile prompts to get started with the basics of drawing and sketching.
Also available
Available now to pre-order for dispatch at the end of May – Watercolour pencils. These look like ordinary pencils but once water is applied, turn into watercolour paints, allowing for easier control of colours and more precise application. A full instruction guide for VI users alongside some creative prompts will be provided in this bespoke kit.
A note about mosaics
As mosaics are proving popular, we have lots of plans in the pipeline for future designs. We will always give you a few extra tiles with each kit as spares. If you are able to, please store these away somewhere safe along with a set of tweezers from your other mosaic kits. At the end of 2024, we’ll be offering a ‘Christmas Leftovers’ mosaic pack to use up your spares and make a special coaster with your own unique design.
