Are you a teacher or a parent? Why not get your class involved in fun activities as they learn about and support Blind Veterans UK?

The activities below can develop team working and communication skills for kids of any age. And our downloadable resources can be used to support their learning objectives and help them understand more about national events.

Everything we offer is free. All we ask is that you help spread the word about our work by allowing us to share news of your involvement on our social networks and in local media. Even better, you could use our resources to raise funds for Blind Veterans UK!

You can find out more below - and be the first to receive new resources and activities by signing up to our newsletter.

Pupils walk across Yorkshire

After an inspiring visit from our blind veteran Simon, pupils from Asquith Primary School, Morley, decided to take on a massive sponsored walk across Yorkshire. Former head teacher, Gillian Austerfield, said, "It’s great the kids are getting active and doing something poignant and fun to support Blind Veterans UK!"

Schools celebrate VE Day

Schools across the country joined us to mark the 80th anniversary of this special day. Pupils loved our illustrated Schools Booklet, full of memories from our veterans who served, while Kirkby Avenue Primary, South Yorkshire, also held a Dress Up day - raising £138 for Blind Veterans UK!

Plan your own walk

We all know the benefits of getting our steps in, so why not organise a sponsored walk around your local area for staff, parents and kids? You could even visit a war memorial on the way.

Have a raffle

Everyone loves a raffle - especially when local businesses donate the prizes! Just don't forget to read our information on how to make sure you keep everything legal.

Give it up

Get the class to give something up for a week, like their favourite sweets or treats, in exchange for sponsorship. Bonus points if you can prize them away from their devices!

Organise a Sports Day

Sports Day is always fun for kids and parents! Charge an entry fee and have a ball with a tug of war, a sack race and, our personal favourite, the egg-and-spoon. Ask a local supermarket to donate sweets or stationary to give out as prizes.

Set up a collection box

Ask staff and parents if they'd like to contribute to a collection box, or challenge your kids to collect what they can over the school holidays. Take a look at our initiative, Every Penny Counts, for an easy and environmentally-friendly way to collect change.
